error 5100

replaced one ink cartridge and now will not work. Have unplugged for 10 min.,made sure no jams, no residue on strip, makes an awful grinding noise when turned back on

My MX922 print destination changes to Save as PDF often, how can I change it to remain as Printer

I thought that there might be an easy fix but how can I make the DESTINATION remain as PRINTER instead of sporadically failing to SAVE AS PDF? THANKS FOR ANY HELP
