FYI--I have the Canon megatank Pixma 6020 series inkjet printer, and have used it for a while now, including adding ink when it gets low.
Problem--This last time when I opened my ink boxes, the containers had a new, thicker, heavier screw-top lid. Guess what? The lid makes the ink bottle too fat to fit over the nozzle to dispense the ink . . . no matter which way I try. The magenta worked after I opened all three nozzle lids at once, giving it space, but the yellow and cyan do not work because the outer sides of the are are not wide enough for the new screw-tops. Trying to connect to Canon about it has been incredibly frustrating.
Temporary solution--I was able to cut the sides of the screw tops (with toe-nail clippers of all things) enough, to allow the cap to let the ink flow. But seriously, who makes a new screw-top without making sure it will still distribute the ink.
If any of you are having the same problem, the toe-nail clippers may help you. I hope Canon has already learned about this, and had fixed the new ink bottles it currently has on the market. And yes, these bottles came from Canon, not fakes.
