My Canon MX 340 continues to require purchase of ink or cancel printing. Can't print. Help!

Canon continues to require purchase of ink cartridge or cancel printing.  I can't print even I've replaced printer with new cartridge.  Is it a scam that Canon use to force its customers to buy ink cartridge from them?

Driver for Windows 8

I have Windows 8 (64bit) on my PC, with a Canon MP 600 printer. Canon does not offer a driver for this arrangement. Can any one help, I can not use my printer.
