Using Mac Tahoe 26.5.2 and a Canon TS5360a. ERROR 311 showing when trying to print

That error code points to a communicaton error between your MAC and the printer. How are you trying to connect ? WIFI or printer cable, I suggest you try the second if you have not done so already. If you are using USB/printer cable then try this:

Error 311 indicates a communication issue between your Mac and the Canon TS5360a printer. This can occur due to various reasons, including outdated drivers or corrupted printer settings.

Steps to Resolve Error 311

1. Disconnect and Reset

  • Disconnect the USB cable from the printer.
  • Delete the current printer queue:
    • Open System Preferences.
    • Go to Printers & Scanners.
    • Select the Canon TS5360a and click the minus ( - ) button to remove it.

2. Remove Canon Files

  • Navigate to the following directory on your Mac:
    • HD > Library > Printer > Canon > BJPrinter
  • Select all files in this folder and move them to the Trash.
  • Empty the Trash to ensure complete removal.

3. Reinstall Printer Driver

  • Restart your Mac.
  • Download the latest driver for the Canon TS5360a from the Canon website here: https://www.canon.com.au/printers/pixma-home-ts5360a/support  printer is not sold in the USA, this link is for Australian support including MAC software. Make sure to select MAC and the correct operating system at the top of the page. 
  • Install the driver and reconnect the USB cable.
  • Open Printers & Scanners again and check if the printer appears. If not, click the plus ( + ) button to add it.

4. Additional Troubleshooting

  • If the error persists, consider trying a different USB cable, as faulty cables can also cause communication errors.
