Error 5100

Error 5100 appears in the display as soon as the unit is turned on.  Directed to turn off the machine and refer to the manual.

Have the same problem with my Conon MX432 followed the instructions to set language next step, checked for the Set ink cartridge Message, opened the Paper Output Tray and the Paper Output Cover.

On the second try the Head Cover opened automatically, then lowered the Color Ink Cartridge Lever, Unpacked the FINE Cartridge and remove the protective tape, then Inserted the FINE Cartridge straight in until it stopped.

Next did the same to the Black Cartridge, next Closed the Paper Output Cover.

Waited for printer, got error Message; ”Printer Error occurred”, then the numbers; “5100”.

Have tried unplugging the printer a few munities and repeating the steps from the start to no avail.

Next will go buy new Ink and try again or return this Conon MX432 Printer, for a different Model.

Have used Canon products for over 30 years never had this problem or any problems with their products which could not be resolved by me.

This unit has never functioned it is new, the problem is with first set up. Bought this unit January 9, 2013 started to install set up on about February 18, 2013.

 

Will contact Canon via Support By Email, as soon as locate the Product Serial Number.

 

Bought new ink but fear installing it without understanding the problem.
