Pixma MX490 Keeps Cycling

Canon Pixma MX490 powers on and goes through initialization, then powers back off.  Keeps repeating the process as long as it's plugged in.  Buttons are non-responsive.

By George, I think we've got it. As long as user does not want web services thru their printer, this will work as we are only disabling the "connection" from printer to the web, NOT our wireless network connection from other devices (computer) to the printer.

RIGHT? 😉

Where is this "settings" how cand I find it. I use windows 10 and canon pixma490 series

where can I find this setting?

I got very excited about this, so I tried it a couple of times today.  Unfortunately, I didn't have the same luck.  Please update later if your computer is still working - I'll try for the 4 and 5th time.

where can I find the settings?

Thanks. Your solution worked for me.  Following your instructions, my printer is  up and running in local network only ... which is fine for me.

I'm wondering if Canon has taken any "official" position on this besides "buy a new printer."   I've been around computers a long time since DOS 1 ... and have never seen such a response from a company to obviously a wide spread problem.

Guess like others, this will be my last Canon printer.

Okay, interesting. It worked, but I have some questions. When I got to the IP address, it was all zeroes? So I used my IP but changed a bit. BUT...intriguingly, thru this whole process, somehow I wrote down the IP address of my PRINTER. Now can't recall where I got it, but if I disabled web services for printer, I maybe will never find it again. Anyway, that IP was off by one number with my wireless IP! Last digits varied between 66 and 65. Might THAT be the problem? That somehow, our printers suddenly had the wrong IP address?

The settings procedure you go thru to fix your printer? The fix DNS solution? The settings you need to go thru methodically are on the printer itself. Hit the "tools" looking icon and that should bring up settings menu. Advance thru the with the arrows until you get to web service setup. Hope you have what selections you need to make. Selection is done at each step with the OK button.

No it didn't work for me. Try my solution...not so good, requires printer ON all the time. Or the DNS fix solution. If more reply.
