Last week my pixma mx490 was going in an out of printing a nozzle check perfectly but when I when to print my stuff it was blank, now it’s not printing at all even the nozzle checks. The ink is still about half way full and I tried unplugging and replugging, updated the firmware, checked for updated drivers and cleaning the print head. The nozzle checks WERE printing perfectly before yesterday so I know there’s no clog. I haven’t done anything different than I did before so not sure why it’s blank now. I unplugged the power cord from the outlet rather than the machine itself so maybe I’ll try that next but if there’s anything I can do that I’ve missed please help lol

It would appear that the ink cartridge would need to be replaced.
Your PIXMA MX490 is compatible with:
CL-246 Color
CL-246XL Color
PG-245 Black
PG-245XL Black

I didn’t mean to accept as solution
i already purchased brand new ink cartridges, the correct ones from above and canon brand, still doesn’t recognize them at all

It would appear that your PIXMA MX490 would require service. If your PIXMA MX490 was purchased less than a year ago, please contact one of Canon's Technical Support Representatives via phone or chat to obtain your in warranty options. To contact a Technical Support Representative, please use the link below to log into your My Canon account:

Once logged in, click on your PIXMA MX490 and then click on the Product Support button. When that page loads, click on either the Phone Support button or the Chat Support button to access support.
If your PIXMA MX490 is out of warranty, you are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.
If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Monday through Saturday, 9am to 9pm. Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.
