Hello all,
I have a Pixma iP110 printer that will not turn on. The printer is only pulled out of a drawer for printing on occasion, so it's not plugged in all the time. We've printed 2 times since mid-April to provide an idea of the frequency the printer is used. New toner was installed mid-April.
Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you!

I don't know why this happens, but turn off your wifi, connect the printer via a USB and you will be able to print. Make sure to switch off the wifi first !!

Your theory on the software update with auto safe in 15secs doesn't compute for me. After getting my printer to work again (see other my posts), I re looked at the auto switch off settings, they are still set up as 15min on battery power and 240min in AC cable.
I think, the issue is somehow with the printer trying to access the wifi network. If there's no network at all to access, the printer goes back to normal again. So true switching off your home network completely then turn printer on, hope that helps the issue for you (at least temporarily till canon figures out what they did).

What it's extremely suspicious and obvious at the same time, is that we all are having the same issue within two days of one another.
My printer stopped working yesterday 01/06/22 and it had been working beautifully the past 7 years, never a single issue.
It was connected to wifi, though now it won't last in enough to reset it. I have tried with a USB instead but it won't communicate with the laptop.

Update: I managed to get it to work. See my other posts.

I just fixed the issue following someone else's advice here. I don't know why this happens, but turn off your wifi, connect the printer via a USB and you will be able to print. Make sure to switch off the wifi first !!

Ok the issue to solve is, power off you wifi or your router, start the printer, reset the printer https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/M/iP110%20series/EN/UG/ug_changing_settings0980.html
After of that the printer will start normally and you can print using USB..
If you want use the wifi you need to reconfigure the printer using you canon software put a fixed IP and the gateway must be a incorrect one to avoid to the printer connect to internet

I did as ediaz suggested - power off the router, start the printer, reset the printer. I was able to print a test page. All looked well.
It is plugged in to USB and only the local USB printer shows in my printer listings
Then the printer TURNED ITSELF OFF, AND WILL NOT START. Same issue back again.
Canon better fix this.

It seems this is happening at the same time for Canon Pixma IP110 printers and perhaps other printer models, in locations throughout the world. I just noticed the problem with our IP110 yesterday; 2022-June-01. Last successful print was a few days ago.
Since the same issue is occurring at the same time, it implies these printers "phone home" to check with a server controlled by Canon and something has gone wrong.
It seems to be a dumb mistake by system engineers. But also perhaps reveals that printers may have a secret "phone home" feature.
I hope they will post a public fix or announce a solution. I imagine the penalty for this bug is a massive increase in calls to Canon support.
Note: I posted my solution below in reply to other solutions.

I can't even change the network settings in the printer, anymore. In the past, I would sign in into the printer's wifi, which still works. Then using the canon app, I would dive into the settings and setup wfi and such. Like so:

Has anyone been able to this successfully again?
Thanks!
