How do I connect the printer to the computer to get documents to print?

I need instructions on how to correctly connect my Canon printer to my Mac so i can print out documents. I have everything plugged in but get a message saying my printer is not connected to my computer

MX452 will not autoprint faxes

Autoprint is set to Yes, confirmed.  Ink OK, paper OK,  Faxes go straight to memory.  Fax Memory light comes on, have to manually print it.  Machine is in a busy deli, big problem because orders are faxed in. 

canon mp830

Using a Canon MX860 to print labels some of the labels peeled off in side printer

While trying to remove adhesive labels from inside printer using the roller cleaning function I get error 5100.  This occured during head cleaning too. Do I need to disassemble machine to remove lables?  Do you have instructions? Thanks
