i get a rubbing noise on my MF4380 PRINTER causing smudges on printed copies not copied copies.

To better assist you, may I have you verify the exact model of your printer?  Do you have the imageCLASS MF4350d, MF4370dn or the i-Sensys MF4380dn?  This information can be found on the control panel of the printer.

It's definitely no problem.  I hope you enjoyed your vacation.

Normally, you will experience the same issues with copies and prints, as the machine uses the same mechanism.  Smudges usually indicate an issue with the toner cartridge.  I recommend changing the toner cartridge.
