Can someone PLEASE tell me why I cannot connect my printer to my laptop? I am not a technoidiot.

I just got a CanonLBP6230dw.  Please, soneone tell me why I can't connect it to my wifi.  Windows 7.  Verizon Fios WITH the stupid button they ask for.

cannot print in duplex with the MX340

I moved up to Windows 8.1 and installed the new drivers. All works well, except I cannot print in duplex mode.
