Pixma MX490 Keeps Cycling

Canon Pixma MX490 powers on and goes through initialization, then powers back off.  Keeps repeating the process as long as it's plugged in.  Buttons are non-responsive.

Thank you so much! Your advice worked for me and I've posted it as a reply to a few others' who may not have had the patience to read this far down into the thread. Much appreciated!

Sorry to ask another ? but how do I change printer installed on my desktop from wireless to USB connection? And oddly, I did have one of the weird USB cables...it's NOT a micro or mini or whatever that new "oval" one is (type C?). This end is flat on 1 side, then larger sides with rounded corners into other end. TOO MANY DIFF CABLE ENDS!

Just connect the cable to the printer and computer / laptop as described in the link below:

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/M/MX490%20series/EN/NTR/NTR_Ijinst_Page2.html

Unfortunately, my modem and printer/desktop are in separate rooms.  I rely 100% on wi-fi.....

The workaround allows working with wireless, but it requires some “techie” configuration that the previous user was not comfortable doing.
if you are comfortable trying, disconnect the modem and the printer will stop rebooting. Then follow the guide to change the dns settings:

Does it matter what you make the IP address?  I don't know how to do that stuff so I literally just chose a random number.  Printer is working now but I'm not sure if I'm allowing some hacker access to my home Internet. Help?!?!  Yikes?!?  It's insane we have to deal with this issue.  I didn't do any updates, it's not user error.  This is 100% Canon's issue!

I entered a fake IP address as well but I'm not sure tech savvy when it comes to IP addresses.  Does it matter if it's fake or did we just give someone else out there in the world access to our Internet system because that IP address is out there somewhere and "their address".  Super worried but I use this personal printer for my home business as well and NEEDED to get things done right now.

My maxify mb5320 experiencing the same issue Ohio century link. I already ordered a new printer almost 400.00  I am afraid to hook it up after reading this. I just wish I would have researched prior to ordering a new one.  I am going to try to hook the old one up using usb cable for now. I hope it works because I have spent way to much time trying to fix it.
