ImageFormula R40 not working with MAC OS Sequoia

Just bought the new Canon ImageFormula R40 and it will not work with MAC OS Sequoia.  Upon trying to scan a document I get "CaptureOnTouch" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the trash.

Do we have an updated driver (I dont see one) or a workaround?  Otherwise I will have to return this product.

I found the answer! A while back I bought some third party software, VueScan from Hamrick Software, to be able to continue scanning on my Canon MG6320 and it worked great. The R40 did not appear to be supported but indeed it is so I am back in business. There was a trick to getting the double-sided scanning to work but when I wrote to Hamrick customer support they quickly replied with the solution. This is no help to the original poster who shouldn't have to buy extra software to make his new purchase work. I love the R40 because it scans super fast and you can grind through a 40 page document quickly with the document feeder. It is super disappointing that Canon doesn't keep up to date with the latest Mac OS's but I still recommend the R40 because it is a powerful tool. I bought mine several years ago and I think I paid way more than $240!

Thanks Harvey.

If possible, please do paste in the full email, even if you have to split it across multiple posts.

even just the link would be great.

I was able to get it partially working with the Mac OS 14 version but it’s still janky.

harveysnyderiii can you tell us what MacOS and what processor you are using? I just submitted a support request like you suggested and will see what they say. I have the Mac mini M4 Pro running MacOS Sequoia 15.2 which does not appear to work with the current Canon software. The R40 support page seems to show no support past MacOS Monterey V12.

I just got this reply from Canon support which states there may be a new driver coming:
"Thank you for contacting Canon product support. I apologize that the driver has yet to be updated for the latest Mac operating system. I assure you that our Engineers are working on updating the drivers for all our products. Our engineers got access to Sequoia at the same time it was released to the public. They will get to the R40, but we do not have an estimated date. Please consider that they also need time for testing drivers. As soon as an updated driver is available, it will be added to the Canon website. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance. Thank you for choosing Canon."

Fingers crossed this becomes a reality as I do prefer the Canon scanning software.
