New Pixma Pro-100 suddenly smearing, excess ink

Douglas2

For the past week, I have printed 7 to 10 prints per day on the same paper with no problems. Suddenly this morning, my printer is giving me smeared, excess ink prints. I have tried printing nozzle chexks and head alignment pages as well as cleaning the rollers and the bottom plate (which required three passes to remove excess ink.)

Although the test prints are perfect, every print I try on photo paper has the same problem.

I would appreciate some help here.

Here is a photo of a print, along with the test pages:

Finally figured it out myself, after reading other articles here. I had the glossy paper in backwards.
Duh!

Try going into the printer driver and the avoid paper abrasion option.

Wet a finger and touch a corner. Print side will be tacky.

I have Pixma Pro-100 less than one month and when I print on Gloss paper (5.5x8.5"), 64lb, 10.9mil, 240gsm on the bottom of the page there is black ink.  I have done several bottom plate cleanings as well as nozzle cleaning but i keeps on smearing on the bottom.  What do I need to do in order to get clean prints?

John,

i have still a little smearing on the bottom of my print, just enough so i can not use the print.  Any idea what to do?

Thanks

Marc

Go into the printer driver maintenance tab and try roller and bottom plate cleaning.

I have to do that every time I start printing. Is that normal?

No. Give Canon a call at 1-800-OK -CANON
