iP4300 missing exactly the same lines of text

My iP4300 is missing exactly the same lines of text using the PGBK cartridge no matter what I have tried right down to missing exactly the same top half of one line of text and the bottom half of anotherr. Aside from missing lines there is no smearing or missing ink on lines that do print. I have changed the cartridge, done deep cleaning, attached the printer to two different computers, and tried unplugging and replugging from the wall plug. About 3 lines of text are printed and then about 3 lines are skipped down the entire page. Seems like clogged nozzels would not produce such a consistent result. I searched on the Internet and find plenty of ink issues but nothing like this. Seems like getting exactly the same result must be a clue. Can anyone help? Thanks so much..  P.S. Page prints perfectly using BK cartridge or any other color.

Hi tkcanon10,

Based on your description of the issue, it would appear as though the encoder/timing strip in your PIXMA iP4300 is dirty or smudged and would need to be cleaned.  To clean the encoder/timing strip, please follow the steps outlined in the following Knowledgebase Article available from Canon's web site:

https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART114102

After cleaning, please attempt to print again.

If the issue persists, your PIXMA iP4300 would require service.  You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program.  This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system.  This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

To help you get up and running quickly, we also offer free standard shipping (if the order is completed by 12:30PM ET).  If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 seven days a week, 8am to Midnight.  Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.
