Hey there I bought a new R10, specifically to use as a webcam.
I am using MacOS Sonoma (14.2) which updated from 14.1 yesterday. Since the update, the camera is not recognised by the EOS utility.
On the previous version of MacOS (14.1) I was able to get this working using a firmware workaround https://appleinsider.com/articles/23/10/25/what-to-do-if-your-webcam-doesnt-work-in-macos-sonoma but since the 14.2 update the camera is not recogised (the OES utility is recognised by Zoom however - it just thinks the camera is disconnected)
I have tried this on 2 different M2 MacBook Pros running 14.2
I am using EOSWebcamUtilityPro-MAC2.0.30 Please let me know if there is a solution. I bought this camera to stream with and the software experience so far as been so so poor.
Luckily I am within my retailers return window, so I will replace it with a brand with software which actually works.

Good news folks, the Mac OS 14.2.1 update released today seemed to have fixed the issue. You will still need to do the firmware workaround https://appleinsider.com/articles/23/10/25/what-to-do-if-your-webcam-doesnt-work-in-macos-sonoma but it works again like in 14.1.
Cheers!

[Redacted]? My corporate IT security won’t allow me to install it. Grrr
shame on you canon.

I was not saying to anyone to buy [Redacted] but rather that theirs works and they are not Canon.
And yes, shame on you Canon.

I agree!

The problem seems distinct from the previous issue. I was previous able to see the video stream in the webcam utility. Now I just get the black EOS screen. On the other hand, the camera is still selectable when I open meet. Insanely frustrating. Everything still works great in Windows.

Congratulations of finding a solution. Apple broke it, and so Apple fixed it. Unfortunately, Apple will break it again before another two months have passed. I can guarantee it.
I gave my MacBook away to a teenage relative. He didn’t know any better. He was warned. He has since learned what Apple is really all about. Many of his apps the use third party peripherals always keep breaking every time an OS update is released. Apple wants to lock you into using only their products.
I do not understand how or why Apple users put up with it. This has been going on for many, many years. Apple wants you to stop using third party cameras and buy the latest iPhone. This is why FaceTime only works with Apple cameras.
Good luck to all of you Apple users out there.

Can confirm this works for me, and if the firmware legacy camera setting is already in place, no need to redo it.

Apple 14.1 has security gaps, that's why there is 14.2.1 and Canon needs a security license to release a webcam tool. As long as Canon doesn't do that it won't work.
