Canon Pixma TR7520 Warning dialog when printing only in black

MX 490 printing problem
My MX 490 will print fine when copies are printed but when printing from my desktop it prints a few lines correctly then slews them somewhat and some words get heavly inked? I sure can't figure out how to rectify this. Any ideas?
PIXMA TS3122 Scanner won't work
It prints just fine, but the scanner doesn't work. At first, the scan utility was not available at all. Reinstalling the software took care of that, but now I get an error message that states "Cannot communicate with printer."
