When trying to scan a document on my MP495 printer, the error message E3 appears.

I am trying to scan a document and I get an "E3" error message.  How can I correct the error?

My Canon Pixma MG5220 lost power and will not power back on.

This printer was purchased in 2010 and has been gently used.  Does anyone know what to do about this problem.  I did unplug and relug and checked that the power source was working.
