Canon Pixma MX490 powers on and goes through initialization, then powers back off. Keeps repeating the process as long as it's plugged in. Buttons are non-responsive.

I couldn’t disconnect wifi from the printer so I turned off wifi, disconnected printer from power, waited 30 seconds and turned it on and the cycling stopped, turned on normal. After waiting for 3 minutes I turned on wifi, waited 3 more minutes and was able to print a document thru AirPrint. Idk if this will work again as I’m heading out for work that I’m late for because of this stupid printer problem 😞

Well, I have never liked Canon products, but not ready to spring for a new printer. Waiting for Canon to fix it. How many businesses are affected?

The problem started when right after I reset my wifi router. I needed to make a copy of a document and all the display says is CANON while it keeps recycling. I unplugged it and am now waiting for Canon to do something. Good luck?

I've been having the same issue. Pixma MX 492 bought in 2018. As I can see, this problem is quite recent, a few days old. My guess is there is a problem with Canon and its connection to the printer, because mine goes beserk when my wifi is on but works fine when the wifi is off. I'll try again in a few days see if it is resolved.

Hi Arthur,
Have you read all of the complaints about recycling that have all been submitted in the past couple hours? This is not something that is caused by the users. Plus, one other commenter has already said they are on hold for hours. Please take this problem up the ladder so someone at Canon understands the scope of the problem and figures out how to fix it.
Thanks

Was yours hooked up via wifi? Maybe they sent an update via wifi and ended up messing all these printers

I created a Canon account. I made the call but recording said hold time was over an hour. I asked for a call back and recording was to expect a call back between 1 hour and 33 minutes and 2 hours and 22 minutes! Ridiculous! This seems to be a problem that CANON has caused because so many are all experiencing the same issue within the same time period. CANON needs to send out a response immediately to this forum or even to their Facebook page.

I was able to successfully get someone on the phone after holding for a hour and a half; all they told me was to buy a new printer!
