This is not a fix. It is a workaround to solve the problem Canon caused. Less than 5% of people owning these printers are capable of implementing this 'fix'
You are probably right. Arthur is probably an AI responder. Same old stuff. Probably nobody from Canon who can fix this problem is looking at these posts. Maybe time to drive the phone support people crazy?
I only bought the MX492 printer because it was cheap. I am an Epson fan. Even if Canon fixes this problem, I will NEVER buy another Canon product again.
