XF-100 internal battery question

Connecting camcorder to computer

I recently purchased a new Packard Bell imedia s2185 computer which only has 2 usb ports ie usb 2 and usb 3 how can i connect my MVX35i camcorder to transfer and edit my mini dv recordings as there is no port for the ieee1394.6 or 4 pin dv cable.

Resolved! hf R600. For some reason, my computer wont detect it.

So, I'm not sure why, but my computer, windows 8 (i know..) won't detect my camera, the HF R600. It doesnt appear in the list of connected devices, the transfer utility says it isn't connected, I'm just not sure what to do. Also, I figure I might ask...
