Pixma mx892 - won't recognize new cartridge

Hello my printer gave the alert to replace low ink cartridge.  I replaced it immediately with the canon brand cartridge.  The ink level alert is still showing and the light on the cartridge slot is not lit up.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi michaele27,

 

Please remove the ink tank that you just placed in your PIXMA MX892.  Look in the space that the ink tank was just inserted into for a foreign object that could be prohibiting connection with the printer.

 

Please make sure all tape/cellophane is removed from the ink tank and then reinsert that ink tank into your PIXMA MX892.

 

If the issue persists, your PIXMA MX892 would require service.  You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.
