MAXIFY GX4020 Product Registration Problem

Hi all. Trying to get Canon support for an issue with my GX4200 Mega Tank printer. Before I can do that, I have to add the new printer. I tried a few times with the serial number (the correct one), and it kept failing saying it might be an error or it might be a foreign product (it is not). Finally tried once more, only now, it tells me that the serial number is already registered and won't let me go any farther. Cannot get any further. Anyone ever run into this?

Welcome to the forum!

We're very sorry you're having trouble registering your printer. The serial number should consist of four letters followed by five numbers (example: ABCD12345) This number should be located at the back of the printer  Please avoid posting the number portion of your serial number here on the forum to protect your privacy.

If this is a time-sensitive matter, click HERE search our knowledge base or find additional support options HERE.

Thanks. Yes, I have the serial number. But as I said, the system wouldn't accept it with 4 trys. On the 5th, it now says that serial number is already registered. But my printer does not show up.

If your printer's model number isn't showing up, you might want to double check to make sure it's right.  To date, Canon hasn't produced a printer with the name "GX4200" but  we have made printers with the model numbers PIXMA G4200 and MAXIFY GX4020.  On both of these models, the model number should appear on the front of the unit at the upper right.

Hope this info helps!

Thanks. Actually, it's a GX4020. But for some reason, my computer's printer properties shows as GX4200. I'll give it another try in the morning.
