TR8620A, TS8320, MAcOS Tahoe and NO scanning possible

Today I tried using the scanner  on my TS8320 and ImageCapture did not see the scanner. I think it is important to the story that this was the first time since I installed Tahoe on my iMac that I tried any scanning. I tried to get help from Apple but  we exhausted their repertoire of downloading the software anew from Canon, removing and re-adding the Printer, restarting the iMac and the printer in various combinations. trying to use the IJ San Utility, and probably more. Nothing made a difference.  Apple suggested that it must be a problem for Canon to solve. Today being a Saturday   Customer Service for Canon was closed. I had a TR8620a that I bought when I thought the TS8320 was broken. Turned oui it wasn't, and since the TS8320 is a better product (IMHO) I put the TR8620A back in the box and into the basement.  GIven the situation, I unpacked it, replaced the TS8320, downloaded the latest software, etc. etc.... and the iMac doesn't see the scanner on that printer either. (BTW if it's relevant I use USB to connect the printer to the iMac)

Is there a known problem with scanning with Pixma printers in Tahoe? It seems to me at this point that the problem "must" be on the Mac, but I don't have the tools to definitely establish that, and I'm mostly afraid the Apple will still say "ask Canon"and Canon, after I pay them $20 to talk to me, will say "ask Apple."

I'd welcome any advice on how to either fix  the scanner problem or find someone at one of these companies who  will do that.

I use a TR8620a with a MacBook Air running macOS Tahoe 26.4.1 and it works fine.

My printer is connected via WiFi.

Do you see this information when you go into Printers & Scanners?

I see ALMOST the same thing.THe main difference is that there is a link to "Open Scanner..."; when I click it it brings up Image Capture, which shows 0 Scanners

The difference may be because you are USB connected and I am WiFi.

Try using IJ Scan Utility Lite. Should be in a folder in the Canon folder. Or Spotlight search.

I have tried the IJ SCan Utility Lite numerous times, with both printers.

IJ Scan Utility Lite with TR8620a works for me. The only difference in setup between your system and mine is the connection. I am WiFi and you are USB.  You could try WiFi and see if that works. If not you could give Canon support a call at 1-800-OK-CANON.

Thanks for your help. I spent 2 hours on the phone with Canon moving connections, changing cables, deleting and reinstalling all the software related to the printer, and nothing worked. At his suggestion, before calling Apple (again) I moved the printer to my Laptop, which is still running Sonoma and (why are we not supposed) scanning worked fine. It must be something about Tahoe. Sigh.
