My CanoScan 9950 Scanner Won't Shut Off!

Hello - My CanoScan 9950 scanner suddenly won't shut off, even when I press the Power Switch. I have to unplug it to shut it off. It's functioned flawlessly these past four years. Any thoughts on this malfunction? Thanks for any responses!
