Hello,
Full disclosure - I am new to this camera and still learning its functionality.
I just got a renewed/refurbed T7i from Amazon and I just noticed that when shooting in manual mode I am getting this noise in the picture. I have tested different lenses with the same result. So far I have not seen the issue in other modes.
Appreciate any thoughts. Thank you!

It looks like a hair or something on the sensor.
Sensor dust is more visible at smaller apertures. You probably don't see it in other modes because they won't be calling for an aperture of f/13.

First Amazon doesn’t sell refurbished Canon Products. Only Canon USA does. What settings are you using in Manual mode.

ISO 100, F13, 1/10...that was the darker picture

F/13 is too dark for lighting like that. Open up the aperture more to around F/5.6. Different lenses have different optical qualities. Some lenses are very good optically some are not so good.

I'll give that a try. Thank you Demetrius, I appreciate the feedback.

cat129,
Is what you are calling, "noise" that weird black line going across the picture in the top third of it? If so, I doubt seriously that it has anything to do with the size of your aperture.
Why it is present only in Manual Mode is a mystery to me.

That looks like dust on the image sensor. I’m only noticing now since I’m in front of my laptop instead of my phone.

Hi kat219,
My colleagues have both provided excellent advice. I'd like to caution you further regarding the source of your purchase. Although Amazon must say "ships from and sold by Amazon" Is an authorized Canon dealer, many third-party and marketplace sellers are not. There are serious risks associated with making purchases from non-authorized dealers. This includes grey market merchandise or a "refurbished" product that was done in someone's garage. An authentic refurbished product can only be purchased from Canon itself. It's very unlikely Canon would allow a camera to leave with something like that on the image sensor.
I might seriously consider returning that product and buying from an authorized Canon dealer to ensure quality and factory warranty. You want a factory warranty from Canon not from the seller. This can lead to a shady transaction leaving you with a defective product and no recourse. We know you're excited to have your camera and we're really happy for you, but we want to make sure your experience is a good one. I hope this makes sense. Whatever you decide, we're happy to try and help. 🙂

One last thing, since the title of your post says renewed. Amazon renewed means someone bought that camera and returned it. You have no idea what they did to it and the people at Amazon accepting returns are not qualified to certify a product. Renewed means we repackaged and sold it to you and good luck. This is just the reality of Amazon "renewed" merchandise.

I'll ask it again in this thread: Why manual at all? Why not program? Why not aperture preferred?
