EOS R5 Mark II Camera Connect App GPS Location not precise

I'm using iOS 26 with Canon's Camera Connect app with a Canon EOS R5 Mark 2 with the latest firmware.  Today I did my usual thing.  I start Camera Connect, take my camera out of Airplane mode, and then started walking and photographing.  Sometimes the phone is in my back packet but I know for sure I took it out often to look at my eBird app and my Merlin Id app.  I did not stop Camera Connect until the end of the walk.

According to LrC, all of my photos were taken at the same spot which is roughly correct but not really precise.  I just checked.  Location services is set to "While Using the App" for Camera Connect with Precise enabled.  So... what's the problem?  I generally do not look at the Map module.  I did today so this may have been true forever and I just never noticed it but it is really sad if this is the best Canon can do.  Please tell me I have something misconfigured.

If this is the usual thing Camera Connect does, I won't die.  I'll just start using a track since eBird keeps one anyway but I must say it is really disappointing.  On the flip side, not having to constantly enable and disable airplane mode would be a plus.  Why Wi-Fi and Bluetooth stay on even when the camera is off is rather not desirable in my opinion.

I use Android. It worked before but these days I will have to reconnect the app every time. I just use GP-E2.

My update to the other thread.

B&H Photo says GP-E2 is no longer available. 😭

You will have to buy it on eBay. Or get the Solmeta GMAX-EOS2.

It does the same thing using my older iphone also.  I will turn the camera off and let it reconnnect, or disconnewct and reconnect in the APP, that will update the location.  It was mentioned in another thread tht if you don't let the phone screen lock the GPS will change constantly.  I have not tried that yet.

Setting Settings => Privacy & Security => Location Services => Camera Connect to Always helps.  You might try that.  I am trying different apps.  One person just get a GPS logger and hang it from your camera strap.  I'm considering that too.  The other thread mentioned above has more info.

Thank you, I had read that and forgot, I just changed my settings, hopefully I'll try that later today.

I had looked into that a few months ago, but when I just went back to the website yesterday it wasn't responding.
