EOS 7D Mark II Help needed with AF point selection

I am in the AF Point Selection mode on my Canon 7D Mark 11. This is the information I got from Cannon resource atricle:

Automatic AF point selection is chosen, again, by pressing the rear AF point select button and then pressing the M.Fn button (or using the Quick Control Screen) and cycling through the AF Zone selection options.

What is the Quick Control Screen?

My camera is stuck on second one the plain square. I use the M Fn button to toggle to left or right and it does not move. It moves the individual cells down below left or right and the small wheel will move the individual cells in all directions.

I am not sure if there is setting not allowing the MFn botton to work asi it should or if it is broken?

I have my 24-70 Cannon lens attached to my camera.

I do have a family shoot this Friday night.

The Quick Control screen is what appears on your LCD screen when you press the Q, or Quick Control button located on the back of your camera, just to the right of your LCD screen.

Different Quick Control screens will appear based on the Mode you are in.

See  the  yellow  box with the single auto focus point!   I  can  not get it to move to the right or to the left.    I  was thinking about doing the expanded onto the immediate right but will not move. The smaller cells below will move in all directions.   Is there a setting that is the issue or  is  the  camera broken?   Could I  work with this  single auto focus doing family portraits tomorrow night???

When you have the screen shown below on the back of your camera you can do two things.

1. You can change the AF point selection between each of the different options by pressing the small M-Fn button next to the shutter button, or pull and release the Af area select lever that is around the joystick. Each press will advance to the next arrange of points in the sequence.

2. You can change the position of the AF point. This is possible to do with the small joystick (multi-controller) on the back of the camera near the top right corner of the LCD, or you can use the main control dial by the shutter button to move the points left and right, or turn the quick control dial on the back of the camera to move the AF point up and down.  

From the screen above I pressed the M-Fn button and the display changes to this one.

To move the position of the AF point or group of points use the joystick or the main and quick control dials while the screen is shown.

In the screens below you can see that I have moved the AF point down to the bottom row by turning the quick control dial on the rear of the camera, and then moved it to the right using the main dial next to the shutter.

If you wish to have easier access to these settings to change the AF area and move the AF point you may make use of the custom controls part of the menu to reconfigure the operation of the AF select lever and joystick. Below are the screen captures to do this. First the AF select lever and then the joystick 

With these two options set, you can use your thumb to nudge the joystick while looking through the viewfinder to change the position of the AF point. Pressing the joystick in to the camera body returns the AF point to the centre. You pull the AF area select lever to change AF area. You will see the changes in the viewfinder so don't need to take your eye away.
