Did you mean:

EOS R5 Mark II viewfinder has a bluish tint

Fairly new R5 Mk II's EVF is driving me somewhat nuts. Time is short!!

Gents:

I would really appreciate hearing from Canon itself and/or a very knowledgeable expert as to why my R5 Mk II camera body continues to have a blueish tint when I look through the viewfinder from day one. I have a few more days until I am stuck with this product and its not returnable.

So, this past week I made the trip to visit the manager of the location (which is part of a regional retail chain) where this was purchased in order to demonstrate my particular concern.

I pointed it at a cream/white SUV. Picture only looked natural on the screen.

I pointed it at Black Mercedes, The front and most of the side looked black as expected, however the back quarter panel looked a darker navy blue. My eyes pretty much see things as they actually are.

Said manager didn’t see any color anomalies or didn’t admit to any.

His suggestion was that the weather sealing/stripping (or whatever word I should be using) around the factory eye-cup might be letting in ambient light somehow and that maybe I needed to buy the Canon ER-kE eyecup as a possible solution. If so, that isn’t my fault.

I tried to compare mine a demo/test model however it wasn’t set up appropriately by the store.

So, in short/bottom line: why wouldn’t a new Canon customer when looking through a view finder/EVF on a $4,399 body see true and accurate color which would be a reasonable expectation?

Is this situation what a R5 Mk II customer can expect straight out of the box which was the case?

I don’t think this has anything to do with my white balance settings whether I have it on 5000k or AWB!

At this point it is frustrating.

Please, what is your personal experience with this model and why is it happening to me?

Thank you

@GreenHeronFan I think the best advise would be to call Canon direct and set up a repair request. If you haven't registered the camera you will need to prior to calling.

This is your second post about this topic. You were advised to return the camera for a refund.  That’s my only advice.
