RF 100mm f/2.8L SA Ring

darmet

Hello,

I just got the RF 100mm f/2.8L macro lens and the SA ring won't turn. Is there a release of some kind that I haven't found or some setting I need to adjust? The lens is working fine otherwise.

Thanks.

There is a switch labeled "Lock" on the right side near where the lens attaches to the camera. It's locked by default (right out of the box).

Congratulations on getting this lens! It's really nice.

You are welcome. They put it in a rather odd place, IMO. But on the other hand (pun intended) it is isolated, so you won't mistake it for one of the other switches while shooting. The SA ring is easily nudged, so I use my right index finger to lock/unlock it while looking through the EVF.

Thanks for the suggestion! It does move quite easily. I wish they'd put a tension adjustment ring on it, like they did on the RF 100-500.

Newton beat me to it 🙂  It's described on page 5 of the User Manual.
