I made this purchase today through Amazon and received my new printer with a blinking light. How do I resolve this problem?

My PIXMA TS7720 goes to sleep after a few minutes and when I send a print job to it, I have to power it back on and re-send the job. Is there a way to lengthen the time it waits to go to sleep or completely disable this feature?
