My MX340 keeps leaving ink smudges and blotches.

My MX340 leaves ink blotches and smudges on the paper.  It leaks onto the next sheet and creates a mess.  I have changed out the ink several times and it contiues to do it.  Can anyone help or do I just need to trash it and get a new one?
