MX922 - My scanned images appear lighter than the original document. Why is this?

My scanned image on the cannon MX922 under the 150dpi resolution is lighter than the original document. Why is this? Can I make the scanned image darker?

I have a Image Runner 1023N at my office was running great under XP until I had to upgrade (?) to Windows 7.  I can not find a driver for the scanner.  I found the printer driver but I don't use it as a printer, just a copier and scanner.

Image Class multifuntion Printer MF4150
