Set Default Scanning Software

PIXMA M470

Originally defaulted to MP Navigator when scanning.  At one time I installed SCANSOFT OmniPage, and thereafter scanning always required me to select between the two.   Because of this inconvenience I uninstalled SCANSOFT, but the same selection menu still appears. I removed all related registry keys and removed the SCANSOFT entry from the MP470.ini file, but it made no difference.

How can I set MP Navigator as the default scanning software ?

Hello zayde.

Please try the following adjustment to see if we can resolve this issue.

1.  Click Start and open the Control Panel.

2.  Once open, open Devices and Printers.

3.  Right-click on the MP470 and choose 'Properties' (Vista/XP) 'Scan Properties'. (Windows 7/8)

4.  Go to the Events tab.

5.  Choose the appropriate event, then select the desired program to open.

6.  Click OK when finished.

Once this has been done, try scanning again to test the unit.
