PIXMA TS3522 scans but does not print

I have uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it. It will not even print a test page. It was working fine on July 18 - I do not know what to do now. Should I reinstall the printer since just the driver did not help. Thanks.

Hi and thanks for input. I finally figured out the problem stemmed from the ink cartridge. A label was left on when I replaced it and subsequently, would not print. Had to be since everything else was working - i.e. the scanner. Thanks very much...

I am on a PC with Windows10 and the printer connection is USB. There are no error message codes on the printer. I tried to print page and a screen message says 'The printer couldn't print test page'. The printer icon says 'printer not responding'.

Also, I have downloaded the latest driver and reinstalled the printer as my default printer.

Hi Chubb! Thanks for posting in the Canon Community Forum. I see that you’re getting a message saying the printer is not responding.

You also mentioned that the printer is connected using a USB cable and that you have installed the latest driver. I also see that there are no error codes being displayed on the printer. To start troubleshooting, please do the following:

  1. Disconnect one end of the USB cable being used to connect the printer to your computer, and leave it disconnected.
  2. Restart your computer by clicking on the Windows symbol and selecting “Restart” from the power option.
  3. When the computer finishes turning back on, RIGHT-click on the Windows symbol and select the word Run.
  4. When the Run window opens, type “control printers” without the parentheses and click OK.
  5. When the Devices and Printers window opens. RIGHT-click on the Canon TS3500 series and select the “Remove Device” option.
  6. If there is more than one copy of the Canon TS3500 series, delete them all by Right-clicking on the printer and selecting “Remove Device:
  7. Once all copies of the Canon TS3500 series are deleted from the Devices and Printers window, reconnect the USB cable and make sure the printer is turned on.
  8. Look at the Devices and Printers window and wait for a new copy of the Canon TS3500 series to appear. It should pop up automatically within 3 minutes of the USB cable being reconnected.
  9. If the printer does not automatically add check the USB cable connection on both ends. If the cable is connected through an external USB hub, please connect the USB cable to directly to a USB port on the back of the computer (not the front).
  10. If a new copy of the Canon TS3500 series appears, close the Devices and Printers window.

The printer should add itself back after you reconnect the USB cable. You should not need to click on the Add button to add the printer. If the printer does not appear, it is likely that the cable connection Is not working.

If the printer is not adding back automatically, please try the following:

  1. Right-click on the Windows symbol.
  2. Click on the Device Manager option.
  3. When the Device Manager pops up, please look for the word “Imaging Device, “
  4. Click on the chevron (triangle) next to “Imaging Device:
  5. Look for the Canon TS3500 series under “Imaging Devices.” If you see it there, disconnect one end of the USB cable and see if it goes away. Then, reconnect the USB cable and see if it reappears.
  6. If you do not see the printer under Imaging Device, please look for Unknown Device or Other Device.  If you see an Unknown Device or Other Device, disconnect one end of the USB cable and see if it goes away. Then, reconnect the USB cable and see if it reappears.
  7. When you have finished with steps 5 and 6, close the Device Manager window.

So we can determine what to do next, please write back with answers to the following questions:

  • Did the printer get added back automatically to the Devices and Printers window after reconnecting the USB cable?
  • If the printer was added back, what happened when you tried to print?
  • While the printer is turned on and connected to the computer with a USB cable, do you see it in the Device Manager under “Imaging Devices?”
  • If you do not see a Canon TS3500 series in the Device Manager window, do you see an Unknown Device or Other Device instead?
  • Does the printer, other device, unknown device get added back to the list when you disconnect and reconnect the USB cable?

I look forward to your reply. Thanks again.
