Hi, I have a Canon G7020, and I would like to know if I should get a repair service for it. It is a 2 year old printer, and while I was printing, I noticed the flat cable ribbon connecting to the ink cartridge holder was tangled and later detached. Since the printer is out of warranty, what are my options here? Should I fix it, and approximately how much would it be, or should I invest in a new printer?

Greetings,
In some cases ribbon cables can be re-attached to their respective connectors fairly easily. This assumes the cable was not torn, damaged or crimped.
Some ribbon connectors have a latch type mechanism that can be gently opened and released. The cable can then be reinserted and the latch closed. Some are molded and locked. Take a look and see if yours can be opened.
If so, insert the cable evenly (squarely) into the connector and fold the latch closed while holding the cable firmly seated in the connector.

Hi, thank you for your reply and help. Unfortunately, I am unable to reach the connector as the ink cartridge holder is blocking the connector. The cable itself isn't damaged, but it is a bit bent. What else can I do in this situation? Is there a way I can somehow get the cable behind the ink cartridge holder?

Greetings,
If the ribbon cable is dettached, it's likely the entire ink carrier will not move. Try unplugging the printer. Turn off the ink valve and see if the ink carrier can be moved manually. Do so gently.

This article may provide some assistance but you still may have to partially disconnect the ink carrier if the cable that's come loose is on it's back. The most important thing is not to force things. I suggest you wear rubber gloves so you don't get ink on your fingers.

Is the white cable the one that's come loose?
