Zoombrowser not recognizing PowerShot SX170 IS

Having issues with my old Zoombrowser 6.6.0.23 software, it does not recognize my powershot SX170IS camera suddenly, granted I have been using it for many years and have a ton of pictures saved to files. I am unable to upload anything new and have searched the internet only to find that as usual things keep moving on and there seems to be no good answer for my issue.  ImagebrowserEX is not available for download to my computer a Dell system with windows 10.  I am very familiar with the old software and don't want to start with something new, seeing how I am 90 years old.  Would appreciate suggestions.

Hi gabby-dgar,

I understand your concern with Zoombrowser no longer recognizing your camera. Unfortunately Zoombrowser is not compatible with current Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems, so it likely will not work on your computer. At this time there aren't any plans to update Zoombrowser for newer operating systems.

You can import your photos and videos using a USB card reader. To do that you would take the memory card out of the camera, load it into the USB card reader, and then use File Explorer to drag and drop the photos and videos into folders on your computer. At this time there are no plans to update EOS Utility 2 for newer Windows operating systems.

Hi gabby-dgar,

Don't be discouraged.  Hazel_T has provided the most up to date information.  All good things do end.  It's great your 12 yr old camera is still capturing memories.  Card readers are under $20 and are very easy to use.  I'm sure you'll have no problem adapting.

You can also download photos from camera to computer with a USB cable......A-to-MiniB.

NO SOFTWARE IS NEEDED to download files. Either an SD card reader or USB cable is all you need. The card reader shows up as a drive, which you open and move your files. Via USB, the camera shows up as a drive, which you open and move files.  Programs like ZoomBrowser and EOS Utility make a simple process complicated for purposes of just moving files.

90 years old need not be an obstacle. I'm 75. So what?
