DPP works fine in new Apple silicon (m1.. m4 CPUs), but it is still the Intel version. I moved from iMac 5k (2019) to Macbook Pro m4, mainly because editing was slow for my 45Mpixels EOS R5 pictures. However, the m4 processor did not speed up the editing. Some of the changes, zooming and especially saving all changed raw pictures to JPEG are slow.
If you encounter slowness, you can consider a free, open source alternative tool, Darktable. It runs on Apple silicon natively, and is much faster. I am just in process of moving to use it. Transition with ChatGPT as my tutor has been pretty easy, finding the controls I want to use.
I hope Canon implements soon Apple silicon DPP version. I liked the integrated workflow - getting new pictures downloaded to a correct raw folder, moving to edit them, and then exporting the to another folder where I keep the "viewable" versions that I sync to my phone etc.
