How to enlarge second screen/Digital Photo Professional Ver 4

Thiru

Hi,
I am unable to change the size of the second screen and would like to find out how to change the second screen size. On my system(Windows 10) second screen size is about 3inchesx3inches. I can move it around. But cannot change the size.  Is it a bug? or it is supposed to be of that size? If we cannot change the size what is the use of it?

Thanks

Thiru,

I am not an expert in DPP4, but if you bring up an image and then click on Edit Image, down in the bottom left hand corner, there are options to display the image at various sizes.

Thanks Steve. I am very new to DPP. Yes image can be displayed at various sizes. Please refer my reply to John.  What I am trying to find is why I cannot  change the size of " second screen" (i.e what referred to as in the actual interface) or "second window" (it is referred as Window in the documentation).

Thiru,

It's kind of like a television set's PIP or Picture-in-Picture.

You do have the option of displaying two pictures side by side - one the photo as shot, and the other the edited image. Right offhand, I don't remember the steps for doing that.

Thank you Steve. Sorry for the late response. I am using the options you described in your first message.

I’m traveling, so I can’t try this, but maybe treat it like a regular Windows screen and right click and drag on the frame of the window.

Are you saying you followed the instructions in the section of the manual you posted and it didn’t work?

Yes John. I tried to follow the instructions given on the link and it does not work. It says "You can change the size of second windows as desired".  I can magnify(zoom) the image within the window. Cannot enlarge the window. According to  the documentation what I am referring to is "Window". But in the actual DPP interface it is referred as "screen". When I right click on the images - top option I get is "Show second screen". When I select  "Show second screen" I get a small window about 3x3inch.   If I double click on any image I get a separate window that I can resize. May be "Show second screen" option is with different intention. Hope I have explained it well.

Thanks

I'm using a Mac with the latest DPP, and I see your issue. If I right click on an image I can show the second screen. I can even drag that window to my second physical computer screen. I can also change the zoom of the image in the second screen. However like you I cannot drag the handles at the edge of the "second screen" to resize it.

What I think Canon is offering with the second screen function is window that can be used to show either the overall effect of a change to the image in the "first screen" especially when zoomed in. Or to show a magnified section of the main image which could be useful when checking sharpening. However I agree that it's not overly helpful not being able to change the size and shape of the "second screen".

Thanks Brian.

That is the conclusion I came to as well.
