I have a imageformula RS40 that's not connecting for me. I'm getting a "cannot find scanner check the power and cable" message.
- I checked the device manager, drivers are up to date and appear to be connected.
- Made sure the USB cable is connected, and connected firmly. It's the cable that came with the scanner.
- Device powers on.
- Shutdown the software completely, and rebooted the software,
- Rebooted my Computer.
- Made sure Windows is up to date.
- Ran the RepairReg.exe tool and rebooted the computer.

I ran RepairReg.exe> Under: C:\Program Files (x86)\Canon Electronics\CaptureOnTouch\Tools>. It said it found no issues. I am beginning to believe that it is Windows 11 update has caused the problem. I'm going to use it today and see how it does. If I get the same message, I guess I will be looking at buying a different model Canon Scanner

Check out similar posted issue by hfrost. Their instructions fixed my issue (open file location where the program shortcut sits and go to tool. Launch the system config and change Thin client mode from disabled to Citrix:Twain Redirection)
good luck!
