Windows 11 and CanoScan 9000F Mark II

Ever since I downloaded Windows 11 this scanner stopped working.

Completely.

Cannot find a dedicated driver.

Has this thing become a boat anchor?

This sounds more like an issue with the "upgrade" to Windows 11. That is to say, Canon has done nothing in the way of making changes that would make the scanner inoperative. Perhaps Microsoft will offer an update that will allow Win 11 to recognize your scanner and make it functional.

Thanks to y'all who have provided support and helpful recent steps by Canon to make my scanner accessible for Windows 11. You are right that that these comments come some 2 years after my posting of woes. They come too late.  I dumped that Canon scanner as a boat anchor, removed all its software and acquired my present Brother scanner which was very reasonable in price and fits al my needs, which aren't many or fancy.

I've had Canon cameras in the past that I have liked a lot (I now use a Nikon) so it's not the name I'm rejecting, it's the  mouth-breathing nerds in the windowless Canon facilities with green eyeshades and Birkenstocks  who released a scanner without Windows software and sat on it for two years/  Boo on them and their bosses.

I am using NAPS2. You can find the software on the internet.

Hello Friends:

I have recently upgraded to Windows 11 Pro (64-bit). Are we supposed to just accept that Canon does not, or will not, provide an upgraded driver for this scanner?

Are we supposed to just dump this scanner and purchase their latest product?

Appreciate any constructive input.

Okay, thanks for your response. Maybe I was only viewing the CanoScan9000F Mk1 page, and NOT the Mk2 page?

I just went back to the CanoScan9000F, Mk2 drivers page and noticed there are Windows 11 specific drivers. I will install and test.

Also, which particular file should I install? Ver1.00 ? or Ver1.02 ?

Hi,

I came across this post with the same problem.
Canon gave me a fix which worked fully! see below
I emailed Canon from here (email link at the bottom of the page)
CanoScan CS9000F Support | Canon Australia
(or in text format https://www.canon.com.au/other-products/canoscan-cs9000f/support)
They responded quickly with:

Please be advised that upon checking our website, the driver and software is for windows 10 version only. We do not have driver and software for your CanoScan 9000F if you are using windows 11.

This is due to the age of the scanner, operating system requirements and other factors including design and features.

Just in case you are using windows 10 computer, you may refer to link below to download the Scanner Driver and MP Navigator. Kindly see link and setup instructions. Note: You may try this on your windows 11 computer, however there is no guarantee if it is going to work or not.

9000F Scanner Driver Ver. 16.0.5 (Windows 10/10 x64/8.1/8.1 x64/8/8 x64/7/7 x64/Vista/Vista64/XP/2000)

???????https://pdisp01.c-wss.com/gdl/WWUFORedirectTarget.do?id=MDEwMDAwMjc3NTA0&cmp=ABS&lang=EN

MP Navigator EX Ver. 3.15 (Windows 10/10 x64/8.1/8.1 x64/8/8 x64/7/7 x64/Vista/Vista64/XP/2000)

https://pdisp01.c-wss.com/gdl/WWUFORedirectTarget.do?id=MDIwMDAwMzk1MzAx&cmp=ABS&lang=EN

Setup Instructions
Download / Installation Procedures
1. Download the file. For the location where the file is saved, check the computer settings.
2. Double-click the downloaded EXE file to decompress it, then installation will start automatically.
3. Follow On-Screen Instructions.

If you require further information or assistance please reply to this email or contact Canon on 13 13 83

The problem for me seemed to be 1. Windows doesn't let you update the driver manually, it thinks it has the best driver, so the exe file does that for you. 2. The advertised drivers/scangear and MP Navigator apps do not recognise the scanner, but the one in the link above does.

There was just one glitch, after installing the driver first, then the Navigator app, the scanner had to be turned off and on again to get it to work after an error code came up. But all is working fine.

I hope it works for everyone

Thanks for posting this!

I was in a similar situation moving from Windows 7 to 11 in one big leap! I used the above links and the scanner (original 9000F) works great. It actually is working better than it ever did under 7 where it frequently glitched and the OS would refuse to recognize it. This saves me from having to buy a Mark II model (many folks in the community have told me that the original actually works better for most applications).

I've been using Windows 11 for many months and tried over and over to get Canon to let this scanner work with it. All to no avail, despite frequents requests. So I dumped this Canon boat anchor and bought an inexpensive Brother model that works fine. I'll never buy another Canon product again. Boo on them.

I hope you haven't thrown away your scanner. Cannon quality is good.

sorry to hear that, cant see the point in posting through? The drivers and the scangear program are working just fine with the links above on Win11 64 bit
