ImageFormula R40 not working with MAC OS Sequoia

Just bought the new Canon ImageFormula R40 and it will not work with MAC OS Sequoia.  Upon trying to scan a document I get "CaptureOnTouch" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the trash.

Do we have an updated driver (I dont see one) or a workaround?  Otherwise I will have to return this product.

I contacted the support services as well. Here is the solution they gave me that worked for me:

  • Disconnect the scanner from the computer, remove the remnants of prior installation attempts, and restart the computer.
  • To download the drivers go to: https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/imageformula-r40-office-document-scanner,
  • Click on the icon "Software & Drivers" to the right of the image of the scanner.
  • Make sure that appropriate values are selected for Operating System and Version (for me detected version was not correct and I had to manually search and select the needed value).
  • Download only TWAIN Driver first and install it.
  • Download CaptureOnTouch program and install it.
  • Once the Twain Driver and CaptureOnTouch program are installed, do the following:
  1. Turn the computer off and leave it turned off.
  2. Reconnect the USB cable connecting the scanner to your computer.
  3. Turn the computer back on.
  • After the computer finishes restarting, open the CaptureOnTouch program and try using it.
  • If you are getting the same error, check your computer’s Privacy setting to make sure that the CaptureOnTouch program has access to the driver installed on your computer.
