Canon C80 display screen upside down

I have the Canon C80 and I took the camera on my vacation trip. Secured in it's own bag and doesn't even have enough space to move. But I took it out once I got to the hotel and the display screen was upside down. If I turn it the other way and close it. Then it will look normal. But if I have it sticking out, the display backwards. Any idea what could be wrong?

Greetings,

For our benefit, are you saying that the image on your LCD is upside down if you fold it out from the body?

I don't think we can help you unless you describe exactly what your situation is.  The display has 2 hinges, so we need to know:

  • what angle is the display hinged out from the camera at -- i.e. as seen from above
  • what angle is the display pivoted at -- i.e. as seen from the end of the display

Your camera has a sensor in the pivot joint which flips the display when it pivots more than around 150° (assuming that 0° is when the display is closed and the LCD is facing into the camera).  This is so that if you're shooting a selfie, the image will be the right way up.  But if you are shooting with the display pivoted at say 140° -- say if you're standing to the left of, and above, the camera -- then yes, the image will be upside-down.

If you're getting a reversed image in other circumstances, then your hinge sensor may be faulty.
