CANON XA70 - Mobile Live Streaming

SAM24
Apprentice

Hi

I had recently purchased CANON XA70 Video Camera.  I want to do live streaming using androd mobile for Facebook and Youtube applications.   I had connected high speed USB C Cable with Camera and mobile and changed the settings in videocamera as well. However, in Youtube or FB it is not getting detected.  It is taking only the inbuilt phone camera.

how to rectify this, any help is really appreciated.

thank you

SAM

Hi SAM24,

Through Canon support we only have information on products and services offered directly through Canon. For trouble shooting and compatibility information for your streaming apps we would recommend contacting the makers of the apps.

On the camera itself the main thing is to double check the USB Mode setting on the camera. To do that go into the menu go to the System Setup section, select USB Mode, and set it to Video Output (UVC). That sets the camera to output a video feed through the USB port. One thing to note is that the USB video feed function is designed to work with computers, so it might not get read correctly on a mobile device.

If you would like to reference the manual for information on that function it is on page 88. If you need a copy of the current manual it is available HERE. Once you are on the web page click on the Manuals button and the one to reference is named XA70 XA75 Instruction Manual.
