Pixma Pro 100 Printing Issues with macOS Big Sur

katiegarrison

I've been using my Pixma Pro 100 for 5+ years with a PC with no issues. I switched to macOS Big Sur, and now I'm getting blurred/hazy prints. I've tried printing through PhotoShop, Gimp and ColorSync. Here are the other things I tried with no success:

  • Deleted all printers/reset printers in Apple settings and readded Pro 100 with Canon IJ using latest drivers downloaded from Canon (did not use AirPrint or Bonjour to add the printer)
  • Tried Canon’s plugin Print Studio Pro in Photoshop
  • Hooked the computer directly up to printer with USB cable and tried to print
  • Updated the printer’s firmware to the latest version
  • Cleaned printer multiple times using Utility
  • Cleaned print heads manually

After all this, I hooked up my PC again, and it printed perfectly. Any advice?

Do you happen to have any Canon photo paper like Luster or SemiGloss that you couold try a test print on?

I don't have any other paper. I'm selecting "Photo on Matte Photo Paper N." No ICC profiles provided. Here's the paper I've been using with no issues for 5 years: https://www.officedepot.com/a/products/244252/Office-Depot-Brand-Professional-Photo-Paper/

OK. So you select Matte Photo Paper N in Quality & Media.

Do you select Canon Color Matching in Color matching dropdown?

And Standard Quality?

I've tried all the settings in multiple variations. I had dozens and dozens of prints on my desk the other day. No matter what settings I chose, they all printed blurry.

I'm not sure what else to recommend.

If you can put the file in Dropbox or something like that and post the link i can at least try to print te file from my MacBook and PC on Canon Matte N paper to at least see if I am getting the same or different output.

I need to be gone for a few hours, but I will follow up.

Are you connecting the printer to your devices using USB?

Thank you so much for your help so far! I appreciate you taking the time to help figure this out. It's baffling. And yeah, I hooked the computer directly up to printer with USB cable and tried to print. Same issue.

OK. Once I have the file I will print it from my computers.

I just got semi-gloss photo paper and printed. Same blurring issue. Can I email you the file? I tried uploading it here, but it's too large.

What media type are you selecting when you go to print?

Did the paper supplier provide ICC profiles?
