Re: Greeting Card Printing - PIXMA Pro 100

Lame.  And extra work - why is this necessary?  If the Canon PIXMA Pro 100 can't do borderless 5x7 greeting cards, then it would be nice to understand why.  Is this a technical limitation or an oversight on the part of Canon?  It is a common activity on a common paper size.  Why is it not supported?

Re: Greeting Card Printing - PIXMA Pro 100

If you are talking about printing greeting cards on 5x7 paper (i.e. like a post card) the Pro-100 will do that borderless.

Borderless is not possible on non-Canon size paper (i.e.7x10 that you would fold to be 5x7)

Re: Greeting Card Printing - PIXMA Pro 100

Thanks for the quick response. I like Red River papers.  So sad that the standard Red River size (10 x 7 to make 5 x 7 folding cards) is not also a standard Canon size.  Looks like I will have to settle for either the extra step of trimming the white borders - which means the envelopes won't be perfect any more - or start buying Canon standard size paper. A big disappointment.

Re: Greeting Card Printing - PIXMA Pro 100

There is a workaround for this problem ... the 10x7 card stock I have feeds through the printer folded using 5x7 paper size. I've only tried a few ... and feed one card at a time, but it seems to work

Re: Greeting Card Printing - PIXMA Pro 100

I have discussed bordless printing with Canon, Red River Papers regarding  a print size of 5x7. Finally I called B & H Photo in New York. We went through the whole process of borderless printing of 5x7 greeting cards while the followed on a Canon Pro 100. They were not aware this was an issue. However they are going to meet with the Canon reps when they come in, which is frequently. B & H indicated this problem should not exist and Canon should take the necessary steps to correct it.

They indicated it should be a simple process to to create a download for the Pro 100, 10 and 1 which allows for 5x7 printing with A7 or 10x7 stock paper. Canon has stopped talking to me about this issue. Maybe a large retailer of their products will have better luck. Keep you posted.

Re: Greeting Card Printing - PIXMA Pro 100

Amazing to me that Canon seems unwillling to develop a patch to download so that one can do borderless printing on 7 x 10 size paper with Pro 10 and Pro 100 papers. I have generally admired Canon printers, but this problem could motivate me to explore Epson, HP and other options. If I have to go that route to find a solutiont, it will certainly sour me on all Canon products.

Re: Greeting Card Printing - PIXMA Pro 100

Hey there!

Any word from Canon/B&H to follow up on this issue?
I'm honestly pretty shocked that this hasn't been resolved. I never would have purchased my Pro-100 had I known this would be an issue! We all know it's a big time-waste to have to trim each card.

Hoping they'll make this right!

Re: Greeting Card Printing - PIXMA Pro 100

I bought this printer because I saw it recommended as being able to print borderless on 5 x 7, and I saw that it could print custom 7 x10 paper.  I have 300 card templates created in photoshop. I tried every manipulation I could think of with no good results.  Called Canon.  No refund.  No exchange to a different printer.  I have been able to use a manipulation on the Epson Artisan 50, and the Canon Pixma 9000.  Both are gone now, and replaced with printers unable to accommodate my needs.  Does anyone know of another printer that can be manipulated to print 5 x 7 borderless on 7 x 10 paper.  And please, don't tell me it can't be done.  I've been doing this for 7 years successfully.  Thanks in advance for your product info and knowledge.
