I am a struggling newbie for all intens and purposes.
Just plugged in my new Pro1oo and I am getting a brown tinge to what should be B&W prints.
I checked what seems but am at a loss.

Hi, rm2!
Which software are you printing from, and what type of paper you are using? Also, what is the version of Windows or Mac in use?
If this is a time-sensitive matter, our US-based technical support team is standing by, ready to help via Email at http://Canon.us/SupportCF
Thanks!

Hello,
I am using only the Apple Photo program. I am using Kirkland Glossy paper.
The Mac version is Yosemite 10.10.5
Thanks

Click on the link in the message (which i think you did)
Click on the circled link in image below:
Since you are on a Mac, be sure you have installed the IJ series printer - you don't want to be using the Bonjour version of the printer.
Does Kirkland give you a suggested canon paper to select for printing?

Kirkland offers no information.
The test print looks to me to be the same as what I doenloaded.
Thanks

According to Message 9 you were going to try a different paper. Did you? Results?

Download and print this test image. Do not make any adjustments to the image in your photo software. Just download the file, open it in your software and print.

How does it look.

Do the monochrome portions of the test print look OK?
I've done a lot of experimenting to get monochrome prints i am happy with. Here are things that I have learned:
1. The viewing light can affect the image appearance
2. Paper type has an effect
3. I get the best results by converting image to B&W in my software and then printing like I would any other print. I do n ot select B&W in the printer driver.
For your Kirkland paper I would try "Other Glossy photo paper" as the media type as a start.
