The WPS button is what allows the printer to be recognized by the router. Sometimes it's a real hardware button and sometimes it's a software button. The instructions got your router/AP will tell you.

This may help: http://usa.canon.com/app/html/web_tutorial/WiFi-MX870_350/

Its pretty generic.

I think, Cannon should simply say that the WPS botton is found on the router and not on the printer. The access point should be termed as "the router". It is easier to understand.

Rephrase: Click the WPS button on your router.

My router does not have an access point button.  What do I do?

Me too..very frustrating for what was going to be a simple install..Waht do I do when there is no access button on the router and the printer won't recognize my network?????

Some routers use a software button. Check the manual for your router.

I have Xfinity for my cable and wi fi and on my router, there is a button on the top of the box that says WPS.  Press and hold it for a few seconds.

This is my first time, too, so glad I'm not the only with issues!!  I've had this Canon printer before, just not wireless.  Makes me think I should have stayed with the wired!

Good luck, everyone!  I'm connected.....................now for three minutes!

My Xfinity router box has a WPS button on the top.  Press and jold it for a few seconds.
