imageCLASS D420 getting a E225 error on boot up

This request is being made for a friend who does not have access to the internet.  I'll pass any suggestions made for this to him.

Here is the work performed already
- new aftermarket toner cartridge reinstalled (Premium Toner Cartridge, HE-Q2612A, CA 104/103)
- scanning glass removed and scanner arm was manually moved across the body of the printer. The arm was moved with no obstructions or resistance
- both side panels were removed to inspect for paper jams, none found
- all connectors were removed from all circuit boards, and they were cleaned and reinstalled
- manually tried to reset the code by pressing the reset button for 6 seconds
- manually tried to reset the code by:
(1) turn printer off
(2) open scanner lid
(3) press and hold the guide on the left (the two places that say A5)
(4) turn on, continue to press and hold on the guide until the reboot completes

Thank you for any help you can provide

One AI-generated answer I found says this:

Error E225 on the Image Class D420 typically indicates a paper feed or sensor malfunction. First, check for any paper jams or misaligned sheets in the paper tray and feed path. Clean the paper feed rollers gently with a lint-free cloth to remove dust or debris. Inspect the paper sensor area for obstructions. If the error persists, reset the printer by powering it off, unplugging for 5 minutes, then restarting. Regular maintenance of rollers and sensors helps prevent this error.
