Hi there. We have a PIXMA 3720 that a few weeks ago started alerting that a firmware update was needed. As of yesterday the unit will only print blank pages. In attempting to log in and figure out how to perform the updates we've realized we don't know if we ever changed the default admin password (or what we changed it to, if we did). We've attempted all the standard default passwords we've found (canon, serial #). If the printer came with a separate password sticker as some sources suggest then we have no idea where that may have gone to. In attempting to print the system information (via pressing the "i" button it again is printing blank pages only.
We've tried hard and soft resets which haven't made a difference.
I'm not sure if the updates are going to fix our print issue to begin with, but if anyone can help figure out a way to access or reset our admin password, that'd be a great start and much appreciated.

If the printer is trying to print and does not immediately feed the paper through the printer then this may help.
Blank pages from the PIXMA TS3720 can occur due to several common issues. Understanding these causes can help you troubleshoot effectively.
| Issue | Description |
|---|---|
| Low or Empty Ink Cartridges | If the ink cartridges are low on ink or empty, the printer will not be able to print properly. |
| Improperly Installed Cartridges | Incorrect installation of ink cartridges can lead to poor ink delivery, resulting in blank pages. |
| Clogged Print Heads | Over time, print heads can become clogged, preventing ink from flowing correctly. |
To resolve the issue of blank pages, follow these steps:
Inspect Cartridge Installation
Remove and reinstall the ink cartridges to ensure they are securely and correctly placed.
Clean Print Heads
Run a print head cleaning cycle through your printer's maintenance settings. This can help clear any clogs.
Review Print Settings
Check your print settings to ensure there are no unnecessary blank pages included in your document.
Paper Compatibility
Make sure you are using the correct type of paper and that it is loaded properly in the printer.

Greetings ,
There is no firmware update that will resolve printing blank pages. Firmware updates for printers typically address security vulnerabilities.
You don't have to apply a firmware update just because it's available and it will not affect the devices ability to print.
A device printing blank pages is either a hardware issue or more likely a problem with drivers.
Drivers for your printer can be downloaded here:
Canon Support for PIXMA TS3720 | Canon U.S.A., Inc. https://share.google/heBEE2qJDAPcp8xnI
I don't see any firmware listed for download, but it doesn't mean it's not available. I would concentrate on getting your printing issue resolved first, then investigate possible firmware.

I am in the some boat ! I tried to update the firmware and my printer wouldn't print anything but blank pages and it wasn't my computer. I found out that my printer would print JPG files perfectly, but no other type of files like PNG, SVG only JPG files. So I have been transfering files into JPG's. I don't know if you are having the some type of problems, but see if it will print JPG files. hope this may help.

In my case I found that printing test pages was allowing colour to print and it turned out to be a faulty black cartridge. Switching that out with a new one solved the issue.
Thanks, folks.
